Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a great group of active, fun loving, and energetic kids. Most of them come from a disadvantaged background. Our school is a Title I school, and currently has 60% of students on free or reduced lunch. This does not stop my students though
My students are curious and hands on learners, with the ability to change the world with their wonderful ideas.
Our school has limited access to clubs and enrichment activities, and no funding for such activities. As a result, students have no way to express their curiousity
My Project
My students are curious and excited to learn using hands on material. They recently expressed an interest in using their free time to practice their STEAM skills- specifically building and creating.
As their teacher it is my job to create an environment where they can learn and create, and to foster their natural curiosity. The materials I am asking for, for my students are all aligned to the new Next Generation Science Standards.
Each material would be used to allow students the opportunity to learn without even realizing it. It is my hope that by providing my students with hands on learning opportunities, they will continue to pursue their budding passion in science, and be the world changers I know they are.
