Help me give my students things like a Checks Balances curriculum, rolling tool, an optical mouse for a greater understanding of personal finances and the pride that comes with a clear career path.
My students are enthusiastic, hardworking post-secondary students, ages 18-21, attending the Delaware Autism Program. They are eager to explore and develop their vocational skills as they prepare to graduate and enter the work force.
Covid-19 has harshly impacted the opportunities for my students to gain hands on work experience in our community.
We are hoping to be able to provide quality job skills training in our classroom on the few days we are in school during hybrid learning. Our students are learning independent life skills related to employment, budgeting and banking.
My Project
Our goal is to provide a cohesive financial foundation that will encompass employment income, personal banking, and budgeting monthly expenses during our remote learning sessions. We will also provide our students with vocational exercises to identify individual strengths and interests while in the class room.
Our students will use the printed materials to examine financial health and literacy and will participate in virtual lessons creating a budget and maintaining a checkbook.
The envelopes and address labels, library cards, medicine bottles and screws & nuts, test tubes and pompoms are just some of the materials that will be utilized by the students to improve vocational skill sets.
