Mrs. Wallace from Detroit MI is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 24 boxes of 64 Crayola crayons, 1 crayon sharpener, Ticonderoga pencils, and copy paper to help improve fine motor, reading, writing, and drawing skills.

Can you believe that first grade students can produce quality drawings, improve fine motor skills, and become creative writers and readers all while having loads of fun with 64 crayons? This is my vision for my first grade class using the Project 64 drawing program by Wendy Helprin.
My first grade class is a very energetic group.
They are fun-loving and eager to learn. Our Title One school is in an impoverished area of Detroit, MI. Many of the students that attend our school have parents or grandparents that cannot afford the supplies needed to complete class assignments. Many times I have to fund some of the necessary materials for my students to become successful.
All first graders love to draw! Last year Wendy Helprin visited our school and introduced to our students a drawing program using 64 Crayola crayons. The students learn to properly hold a pencil and draw pictures that tell stories, using all the colors in a box of Crayola 64 crayons. A teacher in our building decided to learn the program and teach the program to our first graders. The students loved the program and could not wait for each weekly lesson to begin. This year I have decided to teach the program and take it a step further and incorporate it into our writing curriculum. My students will learn to accomplish quality drawing and writing skills necessary to be successful. Using this program and our writing curriculum will not only improve writing skills but also reading skills. Writing, drawing and reading are all relative.
Your donation of pencils, crayons, and copy paper for drawing will truly help my students learn much needed first grade skills and would be greatly appreciated.
Your donation will help me give my students some necessary skills that will be needed throughout their academic years, and they will have a lot of fun learning.
