We’ve got ideas! We’ve got excitement! What we need is a computer to help us expand our learning with technology! Apple applications such as Keynote, Pages, GarageBand, Photos, and iMovie are all integrated and easy to use, making it the perfect tool for young students in today's classroom.
My third-grade students are creative, inquisitive, and ready to learn!
Our high-poverty school is located in the heart of a major metropolitan area and is the largest in our county with over 1,400 students from diverse ethnic backgrounds around the globe. There are 18 students in my class, 9 girls and 9 boys ranging from 8-9 years old. My class is comprised of students from various backgrounds and interest levels, but they have one thing in common - a love of learning and technology.
My Project
This computer will offer my students endless possibilities to learn about concepts, practice skills at their own levels, and demonstrate understanding of their new knowledge, bringing a whole new perspective to Project-Based Learning in our classroom. Students will be able to create original presentations across the curriculum using Keynote; presentations that incorporate their own voices, music, and sound effects with GarageBand; and photos and artwork can be easily added through Photos. Students will use the MacBook to learn keyboarding skills using Pages that will carry them through their entire lives. Making podcasts and using spreadsheets can become a reality for these children if only we had the technology. The list of things we can do is endless!
With your help, my students will have access to the latest technology, helping them research, create, and share their knowledge with others.
This computer will make it easier than ever to facilitate differentiated instruction by tailoring lessons to each students' individual needs and providing greater opportunities for enrichment along the way.
