I have a creative group of students. These students have a desire to learn. They love activities and projects. These truly engage them. They strive to do well in school. Many of them have outside jobs and participate in extracurricular activities. Most of the students plan on going to college.
Some of the students will be first in their family to attend college.
Daily, they work on skills that will help them succeed in school and in life. They know they have the community behind them. When they are not working hard in school, they are working in their community. Many even work after school jobs to support their family and community. The school is behind them and is willing to do all that is needed to help them complete their dreams.
My Project
My students have very busy schedules. Many of them go to school, work, play sports, and complete community service activities. With their busy schedules, many still need help with time management skills. They work on these in elementary school. Yet, when the students enter high school, they stop working on these skills. My students need a large planner to use as a class master planner and smaller student ones for the students to have and use along with pens. We will daily write down plan and organize the week and month along with their extracurricular activities. I started this in a small way last year by providing a homework calendar, but I realized the paper calendar wasn't enough. They have issues keeping their goals on track. These skills will be taken to college and the real world and keep them focused on their future.
