Help me give my students the tools needed to create LION pride materials to make a PRIDE store for the school. The cricut cutting machine will help them create decals and t shirts for the school.
We have twenty 8th grade special education students who have resource class (smaller setting) for Math and English classes. These students have a wide array of different disabilities which holds them back from being able to be successful in the general education setting: such as reading disabilities, math calculation disabilities, attention deficit disorder, mild mental disability, or other Specific learning disorders.
Our students need one on one instruction with accommodations in order for the information to be taught.
Our students are exceptional and special for many reasons that will never be able to be categorized by their learning disabilities. They strive to learn and grow. They want to overcome and are hungry for new knowledge. They love technology and using the means of technology at their fingertips (new iPads) to create new exciting projects.
My Project
Our push in the school district this year is to do project based learning in the classroom. For my students I have come up with a plan to open a "business." Myself (math) and one other Special Education teacher ( English) are teaming up for our 20 students.
With the Cricut machine, Cricut design space software and crafting supplies, we are going to help our students write a business plan, start a business excel sheets for buying/profit margins, create marketing tools, sales sheets and also help them design create and sale their LION PRIDE items to teachers in the building.
This will give our a students real experience with counting money, money management, creativity in design, technology, communication skills, collaborating with their peers, written plans, and other various things that will help them in the real world.
