My students need this horseshoe table in order to accomplish their goals when I am teaching small groups. I am a special education teaching so having this table in my classroom would be tremendous.
Many of my students in my classroom have their own story, some worse than others. Yet these students will come to school with a smile on their face most of the time. They will come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with all of the students receiving free lunch. My students are diverse economically, culturally, and academically. Many of my students don't have much and have a very limited list of experiences.
The school is a Title 1 school meaning that most of the school's population are low income families.
My Project
Small group instruction is the highlight of the day for many students and teachers. This is the time for students to receive individualized attention, and to work closely with peers. In order for the small group work in my class to be most effective, we need a group work (horseshoe) table. The horseshoe encourages discussion between students and with myself.
My students need a group teaching (horseshoe) table for small reading, writing, and math groups.
Currently, we sit on the floor or sit at a large rectangular table, which makes it hard to even reach the students to help with redirection or correction.
