Do you remember your first field trip experience? Loading the school bus and leaving the classroom for the day to explore a place that you had never been before? How would you have felt if your teacher did not have the funding necessary to give you this wonderful opportunity?
My students come to me from a high poverty area.
A large percentage of our students are on free and reduced price lunch. These kindergartners come to school each day eager to learn, and the experiences they have each day in the classroom are many times the best experiences of their day. Our school is small but is what I would consider a hidden treasure within our small county. These children have hearts of gold and deserve every positive learning opportunity I can provide for them.
My Project
With the funding for this project, my students would have the opportunity to travel to a working ranch and experience animal life, nature, and fun-learning experiences as we encounter the many workings of the farm. This opportunity would enrich the science standards that we are presenting in the classroom on animal life and exploration within our curriculum.
It is my goal to bestow a lifelong love of learning upon my students. Providing them with a field trip that will engage their minds will leave a lasting, positive imprint in their memories for years to come.
Living in a small town, these children do not have readily access to places such as zoos, aquariums, farms, and museums.
With funding being cut from year to year, it is my hope that we will be able to provide an enriching and memorable field trip for these amazing young children. Help us to make Kindergarten the best year of their lives by providing these children with a trip to last a lifetime!
