I am beyond blessed to have such amazing students. My students are in the gifted education program. They show giftedness in one or more of the following domains; intellectual, creative, artistic, leadership, and/or specific academic fields.
My gifted students in small-town Mississippi need real-world opportunities to demonstrate their creativity.
My fifth and sixth-grade students require more than basic academic stimulation. The academic needs of my students require diversity, opportunities for high levels of creativity, and instruction different than the norm. My amazing students need opportunities to have all of their needs met.
My Project
A laptop would greatly increase productivity in my classrooms. I teach gifted education at two schools, 5th grade at one school and 6th at the other. Both grades will have access to a Cricut machine that I will carry back and forth between the schools along with the requested laptop. The laptop will also allow more students to create designs for the Cricut simultaneously.
The laptop will serve multiple uses for multiple grade levels.
The fifth-grade students will be using the laptop to create a weekly video message for the school. They will be incorporating special effects and Chroma key effects into the videos. The laptop will also aid the fifth-grade in creating their stop-motion movies. The sixth-grade students will be creating presentations, gifs, and videos to promote school events and advertise for local businesses.
A laptop is truly needed and will be extremely beneficial to my students learning and creativity. Furthermore, a laptop will aid me in preparing lessons, monitoring student progress, and finalizing students' work for displaying on the internet.
