"Can we do that again?" I love hearing those words from the students in my classroom. It is never tiring to experience the wonder and excitement that music making brings to a school community. My students drive their musical learning by actively participating in music making. They are composers and creators, singers, dancers, choreographers, and instrument players.
The 300 plus K-8 students in my building seek to be innovative thinkers and global leaders that will positively impact the world both locally and globally.
My Project
Having a classroom set of Orff inspired xylophones, metalophones, and glockenspiels allows me to teach skills that go beyond the music classroom – coordination, improvisation, collaboration, and creativity.
Melodic percussion is the key to developing a child's musical foundation and ear-training skills.
With these instruments, students will be able to create their own accompaniments, play melodies while singing simple songs, and make stories come alive with melodic enhancement. These instruments will inspire and engage students in meaningful music making, exciting them to be composers and creators in music and beyond. Orff instruments are an investment that will continue to benefit students in the years to come.
