Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students walk into our classroom every day ready to learn and excited for what is in store for them that day. I teach at a school that is considered Title I, where over 75% of my students are on free or reduced lunches. Many come from families that are economically disadvantaged and have parents that work multiple jobs to make ends meet. They want to be in school because they want to learn. That's good news since I want to be at school because THEY want to learn.
I teach music to 600 students ranging from Kindergartener through 5th Grader.
My students range from GT students to Life Skills students and everything in between. We work hard, learn hard, and (in music class) play hard too!
My Project
The use of interactive whiteboards has become a daily routine in classrooms across the world. But what if you do not have an interactive whiteboard? What if you only have a television screen that offers no student interaction? The iPad would allow me to see exactly what we are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show AND share their work. An iPad can be broadcast to the large television screen and students can share their work in real time with the class. We can write, compose, and learn...together.
By donating to our project, you would be helping improve my student's ability to, not only learn on their own, but learn together.
This project would turn our simple television into a large interactive surface. While not the same as an interactive whiteboard it will prove to be even better as students can simply pass an iPad to their neighbor to add, change, and enhance the work shown on the TV. The addition of new technology would also have a bonus effect of added interest and excitement in the music room.
