This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a special education teacher for one of our local inner city schools. I work with students in grades K-5 throughout my school day. My students thrive in a organized, comfortable, warm, and flexible environment. It is important to my students and to me that they feel safe and loved.
My students have a diagnosis of autism, developmental delay, ADHD, specific learning disability, and/or emotional disability.
Each one of my students show their best academically and socially. They enjoy coming to my classroom and thrive in the environment I have created for them.
My Project
We have campaigned for flexible seating options this school year. With the generosity of our donors we now have many options for our flexible seating. We share a classroom with another class. It is divided for privacy. Our children need more space to spread out, get comfortable, and enjoy their new flexible seating options. The organizational supplies listed will allow me to send my desk and closet to the warehouse. With those items gone there will be lots more space for our learning environment. Storage bins will allow for under counter storage which will house the items that were stored in the closet. The mobile cart and small drawer organizer will help me move supplies from my desk and closet to one cart.
