I am the Physical Education teacher at a school in New york. The majority of our school receives free lunch and we are an impoverished school. I work with grades 3- 5 teaching them skills in all sports as well as social skills which will enable them to compete in said sports or games. The only real exercise the students get is when they come to my Gym class. My students participate in a variety of activities/ events that I coordinate each year. These events include Field Days for all three grades ( with seven classes on a grade), Jump Rope/Hoops For Heart Campaign which raises money for the American Heart Association, my Basketball club, which plays not only against the students in my school but travels and hosts other public schools in intramural tournaments, our newly formed Tennis club, as well as our faculty/student Basketball game and Family Physical Education Nights.
Our school can't afford to purchase a camcorder as all our money goes to pay for the basics of running a school. The students always ask why I do not record all their events so we can view them as a Community.
I would really appreciate it if someone would donate a camcorder to our school as it would greatly benefit our students and build community not only in our school but within our school area. The students, along with their teacher and parents would be able to come to our school and view the many events/activities that occur in the school. It would give us all a chance to talk and laugh while we watch the children experience the fun of participating in the events.
Your help will make it possible for families to enjoy watching their children participate in events and activities that they might otherwise not be able to see. Many parents work during the day to support their children and would not be able to see their kids enjoying themselves with their friends, but with a camcorder they will be able to do so.
