Our school is a Title I school, serving students in grades Pre-K through fifth. My third grade students are very diverse. Some of them come from various ethnic backgrounds, some come from single family homes, living in poverty-level conditions. Some have learning disabilities, and some are gifted academically.
My students deserve the absolute best there is to offer, yet often times are exposed to the worst.
I strive to provide them with the best learning opportunities, so that they can learn in ways that best fit their needs. I hope that you choose to partner with our class to help me make that happen!
My Project
I want my students to be lifelong readers and have a love for reading. That starts with captivating their attention with interesting and engaging literature. With these chapter books, I will be able to enrich my students vocabulary, background knowledge, and deepen their level of understanding with reading comprehension strategies.
By breaking the traditional mold and incorporating more of my students interest, they are in turn more engaged in their learning.
Novel studies not only help to teach students vocabulary, but they help teach communication and social skills as well. Students learn to carry on engaging and deep peer discussions, as well as develop social skills such as empathy.
