My Students

My classroom is organized chaos. We are always having fun while we are learning! My classroom is filled with students that barely have the basic necessities, much less the materials they need for school.

Our school has a high poverty rate, with most students receiving free or reduced-priced lunches.

For many students in our area, school is where they experience many "firsts" or new things. Some students have never even traveled more than 30 minutes from home. It is amazing how they can accomplish so much with so little.

My Project

Many of today's students don't see reading as "fun". I want them to find that book that makes them fall in love with reading! I still remember the first book that I fell in love with from jr. high.

These books are geared towards what interests my students most and incentives to help motivate them.

With technology being so prevalent in their lives, its even harder as a teacher to promote lifelong learning.

Covid-19 has made it even more difficult to reach students when they are in and out of the classroom. I feel that high-interest books and incentives will help.
