The students here at our school have a heart for learning. Our girls have beaten so many odds. Our students know the importance of education and want to take every opportunity to learn. I have had students share their personal stories and some of the odds they face. It touches my heart to see how many students have the bare necessity to get by and still make learning look easy.
The challenges the students face do not stand in the way of their getting the job done.
We are the first single gender school in the state of Georgia to become STEM certified. Our girls go above and beyond the expectation. CSKYWLA Scholars will be globally conscious college and career ready STEMinists!
These books will help to improve our small collection in our media center. The titles purchased will be used for an after school book club that targets a diverse group. I am selecting bestseller books that focus on empowerment and motivation. Help me to motivate lifetime readers.
Our students are eager to get books that speak to them.
My students are big dreamers! They are smart and prepared to reach their goals. No matter what is going on at home, these students come to school every day and do their best to succeed. The media center is a safe space for them to share, express, and evolve. Our girls are the future! My goal is to have those students that were never readers to walk our campus with a book in their hands! Also, the book club will encourage every girl to look after one another-- “CSK sister’s keeper.”
By providing inspiring books, we will explode excitement about reading and help these students achieve academic success.
