I am a first grade special education teacher at P.S. 361. I teach and modify a general education curriculum in an inclusion setting. An inclusion classroom services a wide range of readers. We use multiple copies of books on students' individual levels to teach guided reading. Fortunately, I have a number of books for the lower level readers in my class. However, some of my students are beginning to read fluently at a beginning second grade level and I have very few resources to support their learning. I need resources in my classroom to keep my advanced readers engaged and inspired by reading. I am looking for multiple copies of higher level books to use in literature circles in my classroom. Students will become immersed in characters, story lines and language together, supporting each other in becoming more engaged and fluent readers.
