Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most of my students have faced some challenges at their comprehensive high schools and are attending this school in order to 1) earn credits to return to a comprehensive high school, 2) earn credits to graduate, or 3) work towards a GED. Several are faced with challenges in their daily lives and have grown untrustworthy of authority. Being able to show these students that I care about their futures has brought them one step closer to gaining that trust back.
One thing all of my students have in common is that they want to graduate.
I have never met a group of more motivated students in my life. My students do not all have the tools they need to be successful or practice real-life applications in the classroom or at home. It is my goal to give them the same experiences and opportunities that students in a higher socioeconomic area are given.
My Project
The Cricut Easy Press would be so beneficial to my classroom and helpful in creating art projects for the Leadership class to wear with pride and sell as a fundraising activity. We received the Cricut machine and I did not realize that I also needed the press to make our projects a reality.
The Cricut Machine will allow the leadership team to create t-shirts and other school-related items that inspire students to think positively as they choose their own path and care for others.
With this machine, the student leadership class will be able to make many items such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, decals, and posters to encourage and reinforce school spirit and pride.
One of the missions of our leadership class is to create a strong positive learning environment not only in our classroom but throughout the entire school and our surrounding community.
This project will help our students to be creative and communicate their values to others.
