This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come to me for success. As long as they have been in their educational career, they have been classified as a "failure" or "not smart" simply because they have gaps. These students have been passed from year to year to move them on. The cracks continue to grow larger unless someone can come in, see what is missing, and fill that gap.

Intervention is the key to success!

Every day, I strive to find more resources, books, guides, and research-based activities to help my students achieve their goals.

Every day, my students come to be eager to learn. They struggle, but they try so, so hard. They are always trying to learn more and spend more time in my classroom. My classroom is a judgment-free zone, and it doesn't matter if you can read, write, spell, or do simple addition. They come with an open mind and great attitudes. Every day, they grow. Growth is the most important thing! If they can show that they've grown, that shows success! Success equals confidence in the classroom.

My Project

I want to create a functional space for my students to be able express themselves, have easy access to books and materials, and feel like my office is as much their space as it is mine.

These materials will help my dyslexic and RTI students feel welcomed and comforted with a functioning environment at their fingertips.

They will have automatic access to dictionaries, base line paper, comfortable chairs, and desk organizers. My office is small. I want my students to feel at home and have a space that feels like their own. These materials will help the students get what they need without fear of embarrassment.

Having a functional space is crucial when seeing small groups several times throughout the day. Papers, pencils, and books can easily get out of order. Utilizing these materials will cut down on the amount of time it takes to unpack and clean up at the end of a session. This will provide extra minutes of support for struggling learners.
