This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students at my inner-city public school are simply amazing. They come to school each day excited to learn and to show off how successful they are in their learning. It breaks my heart to know that over 90% of the students at my school live in high poverty.
I want to be able to provide my students with everything they want and more.
Our school's focus is "Personalized Learning", and I want to make learning a personal, fun, and exciting experience for all of them. A lot of my students learn kinesthetically by moving their bodies around. It helps them stay focused and ready to take on any new challenge!
My Project
My students love to listen to read-aloud stories along with reading books on their own. I am excited to add some new children's books to our Classroom Library for students to explore!
I love to see my students fall in love with reading and I know they will enjoy these culturally relevant stories!
Students love to have options with their reading and I feel like they get bored of the same stories we have in our current Classroom Library. With these new books, students will be able to find more books that interest them along with learning more about kindness and black history. During our 'Read to Self' and 'Work on Writing' Small group stations, students write about what they read and I know they will enjoy doing that on the colorful clipboards!
