My students come from a variety of backgrounds and languages. I find that my students need exposure to many things as their background knowledge is lacking due to cultural or language barriers. My student population is 85% poverty and 70% of our population is English Language Learners. Our students have emotional and social issues due to language, poverty and cultural barriers. Hearing stories is a way to develop language with my students and make connections with them.
My students enjoy reading and exploring new books.
This purchase would allow students to have books that they can read at this time. Students have not been able to access their books that are in the school.
Our students have been learning from their homes for five weeks now. They were not able to return to their school to take their books home with them. We would like to provide them with books when they come and pick up their daily lunch at our school.
These books would allow them to take books home and read them.
We hope that in giving them books they will become lifelong readers.
You will be contributing to students' home libraries. Students need books that they can read at their level to practice fluency and help them reach the next level.
