My Students

My students are wiggly, nervous, inquisitive, and sometimes anxious seekers. They are typical junior high students and love to push and challenge me. They enter the yoga classroom to have some play time and also rest time. Both things are important to their mental health and overall well being.

This age group has carried a burden of responsibility in that they are "old enough" to be expected to handle the challenges they have faced with their school learning shifting and their world turning upside down due to the pandemic.

My Project

Meditation is an important part of our yoga class! These crystal singing bowls will bring a joyful sound to the space while we practice to deepen our mindfulness side.

Meditation is a lifelong skill students can use regularly to help lower stress and anxiety.

It can be hard and scary to meditate at first! My students practice getting into a quiet, thoughtful, beneficial space everyday in class. Having time with no electronics and very little outside information coming in can be a very powerful and welcome time in a students day to day busy life at school.

Our meditation time is simply a place for students to practice just being with themselves. The crystal singing bowls will help students connect and go within, quieting the mind and resting their brain.
