This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are truly beautiful and brilliant. Currently, I serve at a high-poverty, Title I school, meaning 100% of our students receive free or reduced-priced lunch. Our school is located in a high poverty neighborhood.
My students love to learn, and grow.
They are very eager, inquisitive, and ready to work. They are creative, always ready to help, and I truly enjoy their energy and commitment to success. Each day is new and a lot of times they are teaching me as I teach them.
My Project
The items I am requesting will help in providing the best culture for my classroom. Sometimes students have hygiene issues, not because they don't care, but it wasn't up to them. By keeping deodorant and feminine toiletries in the classroom, I hope to provide students with the items they need to feel as fresh as possible while in my class. I believe cleanliness gives students confidence. Some students also come to school because they know they will eat. I keep ramen noodles in my room to provide food for students who may not have a meal for the weekend.
Building a caring culture in the classroom requires more than a good lesson, it also requires thinking and looking through eyes of a child and trying to provide needs that may effect their learning in the classroom.
I am also requesting snacks airheads, cookies, cheese crackers. To give students a little brain booster on slow days. Also, to help provide a few incentives for the classroom. I believe kids are sometimes motivated by a surprise snack. I give snacks for things like, asking questions. I call it, "candy for clarity." Students are often too nervous to ask questions, when they need to the most. The items you are donating to are often thought about but not always easy to provide. We all know how students love a good treat! I almost forgot to provide these but with your help I know my classroom will run at its best!
