Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This year, I have 24 of the most amazing learners. My students are creative, curious, hardworking, and respectful. They come to school everyday with a smile of their face and the desire to learn many new things, despite many challenges they may face in their personal life at home. They are learning to persevere through the challenges they encounter and they strive to always do their best work.
In our classroom community, we are learning the importance of empathy and building a culture of kindness.
By learning to help others, students will experience a sense of empowerment in creating a positive impact on the world around them. I feel the Unicef program helps bring real life situations to the forefront and inspires kids to take action to make a difference globally.
My Project
Being part of the Unicef program, students learn about other children on a global level. The Kid Power program not only encourages a healthy lifestyle, it also brings to light the realities others may face in other parts of the world.
Students have an opportunity to learn about others throughout the world and also begin to truly understand the practice of empathy.
They learn that through their own actions, they can actually help others. The Unicef Kid Power program provides teaching materials along with the Kid Power Bands that the students will use. The educational resources provide kids with an opportunity to explore and experience a country, region, or topic that UNICEF is working on to achieve the Global Goals. Through hands-on learning experiences, kids go on Missions helping them learn what it means to be global citizens, and realize that their everyday activity can save lives
