My students need books for Spanish class. We read for acquisition, and my students love the different novels; they feel successful when reading a new novel!

Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students come from a rural area; many live on farms that hire Hispanic workers. My students are eager to learn Spanish, and many of them are college bound.
They see a great use from learning a second language and are very excited to begin the journey.
The students are starting their language learning at a later age, 14 years old, and even older for some. The students at my school, while living in an area that is traditionally not very diverse, are on the way to becoming more globally aware and accepting of other cultures.
Languages are acquired through reading and listening. In my Spanish class, each year, students will read two different short novels. These novels are geared specifically toward their language abilities. Each novel is designed to focus on a key cultural component of the Hispanic society and engage the reader in a way that simply speaking cannot.
They serve to help students acquire the language in a way that helps them feel confident.
I strive to give my students choices based on their interests and feel that by having a selection of books that they can choose from helps them to engage in learning.
