My students need the clay tools to design and produce items which will be made from the clay! These items will stimulate their creativity and inspire, motivate my students!
If art is to nourish the roots of our culture, society must set the artist free to follow his vision wherever it takes him.
John F. Kennedy
The artists in my classes are begging to be set free to create in a 3-D medium like clay! They are ready, willing and able!
My students are in extreme northern Maine where winter lasts for 6 months!
We are very isolated which deprives us of some art experiences that other students take for granted. As a small school, our budgets have been stretched as thin as they will go. I have recently inherited a High School art program that has never had a professional art instructor. After a month of cleaning and sorting, I have found that we have polymer clay and the oven to bake it in, but we have no tools or other needed equipment so we can not even use these things. There is no money left to purchase them in the near future so we are asking you to help us.
My Project
My students can manipulate and create to their hearts content with the supplies you help us obtain. The students will be able to make jewelry and sculptures and possibly do some Claymations as well. Just think of how creatively free they will be! Instead of useless supplies, your assistance could give them another wonderful opportunity they might otherwise miss out on!
My students have had very little chance to express themselves in recent years.
Opportunities to think and create in three-dimensions do not grow on trees in this area. (We should know, we have lots of trees!) Your assistance will make it possible for both these things to happen for my students. At the same time you will be improving their self-esteem and helping to motivate them!
