My students come from many different backgrounds and demographics. My class is titled, "Mrs. Weiss' World of Math" because math is connected to us in everything we do. Math is everywhere in the world around us, and by making it the theme of my classroom it reminds students every day to make real-world connections. In order to connect to the real-world, students need STEM tools.
We begin the school year by having students set goals.
They are not alone in achieving these goals and teachers are here to help them in any way possible. We explain to the students that we are a community and communities help others and work together. In today's fast-paced world, students need to learn using new and innovative ways to increase their curiosity.
My Project
The materials I am requesting are to create learning tools for my students. Using the Wacom tablet, laptop, and software, I can create educational videos and other learning tools to help make my students successful in math. By creating math learning videos, students will be able to pause and reflect on their learning. This will also give students and parents and opportunity to relearn and rewatch the daily lesson at home. I have many parents who ask me frequently for resources that can help their child succeed. Math is a subject that students will need to build upon for the remainder of their academic career and in life. The one area that my students struggle with the most is their math fluency. In class, students are relying more on technology to increase their math fluency and with the resources I have I can help make this happen.
With the laptop, tablet, and software I will be able to create tools to help students achieve.
I will use the resources purchased to create videos to help students learn math and science at their own pace. Technology can give students a 21st century learning experience that can create enduring understandings. With a shortage of resources, this is the best way for students to learn and succeed. Students will be able to learn and grow through the use of technology.
