Creating Engaged Young Citizens

My students need access to Chromebooks while in my Civics/Political Science class so they can research current events and make a real-world connection to what we are talking about in class.

My Students

My students are young adults who are ready to make their way out in the real world.

I want to be sure they understand the important role they play as a citizen in our community, state, country, and world and ultimately build engaged and responsible young adults.

The best way to do that is through real world connection which is what the Chromebooks can bring through the internet.

I have four classes each trimester that consist of thirty to thirty-five students so many students will benefit from this, this year and years to come!

My Project

I would love to have 5 Chromebooks that always stay in my classroom as an enhancement for my students.

One of the most important aspects of teaching Political Science/Civics is helping students to understand it's relevancy.

The best way to do that is to explore current events. By having access to Chromebooks in the class, students can explore what's going on around the world through the internet in groups or independently when they finish with other assignments early.

There are often times when a couple of students will finish with a project or assignment early and have to wait for the entire class to finish before moving on. By having access to these Chromebooks, they can work on other assignments during their downtime so they are making the most of every minute in my class.
