This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is located in a high poverty urban area and students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. I have a diverse group of learners where deaf students, as well as learning disabled students are included with typical students.
Despite any hardships they may face outside of school, my students come to school ready to learn, and eager to experience new things.
I am always looking for exciting ways to provide my students with differentiated, creative experiences that can help motivate my students and help them make meaningful connections to their learning.
My Project
I am requesting crayons, colored pencils, dry erase markers and erasers for my classroom. My students love to be creative, and are motivated to complete their work when they know they will be able create an illustratration to go with their assignments. We simply never seem to have enough art supplies to allow the students to work to their fullest potential.
Students are great about sharing the supplies, but being able to provide enough supplies for all students would permit my students to focus on their creativity and not on waiting to borrow supplies.
The supply boxes will allow supplies for each cooperative group to be stored neatly and help them stay organized.
