Creating Connections One T-Shirt at a Time

Help me give my students a heat press and various other supplies to start a school based t-shirt business.

My Project

Occupational Course of Study (OCS) programs are designed to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. Courses are designed to introduce students to the fundamental attitudes, behaviors, and skills needed to obtain and maintain employment. Objectives include identifying job possibilities and building a school-based enterprise within the OCS classroom. Funding for this project would provide my students with the opportunity to create, market, and sell school spirit t-shirts to fellow classmates, teachers, parents, and community members. The profits from t-shirt sells would go directly back into the OCS program and will be used for life skill lessons in the classroom (ingredients for cooking meals, laundry and cleaning supplies, etc.), as well as, real world experience field trips (trips to grocery stores, restaurants, volunteer opportunities in the community, etc.). In addition to learning valuable skills that will translate to future employment, this project would allow my students to become engaged with the school community in a way that would bolster their self-confidence, strengthen their relationships with peers, and highlight their creative abilities.
