I am a second grade teacher at a public charter school in Rock Hill, South Carolina. We are a Project Based Learning school which allows our students to dig into the curriculum while engaging in problem solving and collaboration.
In our classroom we celebrate the things that make each of us unique.
My students come from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Teaching children how their differences and interests benefit the group, especially in the context of collaboration, is the best part of my job.
My Project
Having additional books in my classroom in varying reading levels will give my students the ability to grow as readers while expanding their interests. Having a greater selection of books in my classroom will help my students as they become stronger readers.
When my students choose JUST RIGHT books it is important that they have a diverse selection to choose from on their reading level.
My students' interests are just as unique as they are. Finding content that is engaging to all of my students will assist in reaching even the most reluctant reader. All students are readers, some just have not found the right book yet!
