Creating Community In First Grade

My students need an organized space to come to each day with supplies that they can use such as Classroom Supply Caddies and White Sentence Strips.

My Students

My classroom is extremely diverse and the students are from all different economic classes. This school is considered to be a technology school as well as a green school.

The students are gifted and are working one grade level above.

They are amazing and have an unbelievable internal drive to learn. However, they are still 6 and 7 years old and need to wiggle and move. They need an organized space that allows for creating a community within the classroom.

My Project

This project will help children in my first grade room create a community within the classroom. This will help my students work together and communicate with one another. It will also help students stay organized and find what they need in order to be successful in the classroom. I think having clearly labeled bins can really help all of my students feel comfortable and fell like they are part of the community within the classroom. The colored bins and table Bins also help to keep the room organized so that all children can find what they need without my assistance.
