My top priority when teaching my a wonderfully diverse group of learners is creating a community. I do this by engaging in community building discussions called Philosophy for Children (P4C). In P4C students sit in a circle and discuss a student generated question. Through this activity we learn about each other, we build relationships, and develop a safe environment for learning.
Through this activity students learn to speak and listen to each others ideas with respect.
Qball will help empower my students to have their voice heard as well as enable them to listen to their classmates ideas.
Many of my students are English Language Learners. Some of these students are very soft spoken and are very hard to hear in our group discussions. I would love to get a Qball to help amplify their voice so that they can be more active participants in our P4C circle.
My Project
Building safe learning community is a top priority to me.
I want to create a learning community where every student feels calm, safe and ready to share their voice.
I would like to do this by purchasing a Qball wireless microphone to help amplify my quieter students voices during group discussions.
In order to create a calm and safe learning environment, I would also like to buy a wireless bose speaker to play soothing music during independent work times.
To help my fidgeters stay more clam and focused, I would also like to purchase hand held manipulatives or "fidgets" to safely get their wiggles out.
