My Students
Introducing the best nerds in the world! Our brand new chess club began as a twice a week, end of day activity for my 2nd graders last year. It was so much fun and such a big hit that those 2nd graders wanted to continue and hone their craft to a competitive level. To top it off, they spread the word and now that they are in 3rd grade, they have gotten two other grade levels excited to join us! We are ready to dominate the chess world...bring on the strategic competition!
My Project
These materials are for our brand new chess club. This chess club may be sponsored by myself but it definitely belongs to the children! They demanded it! After learning how to play in second grade, a group of rising 3rd graders came to me (over and over and over again...lol) to plead to continue to learn...to perfect their newfound love.
Our chess club is a place to build strategies, think critically, and compete!!
With the help of tournament quality chess sets and the many literary resources to teach strategy, our chess club will not only reach new heights in the chess universe, but also these skills will transfer over to every academic course throughout their day!
