I teach in one of the largest school districts in Milwaukee County. As such, my classroom is diverse, full of students with many different experiences from different walks of life. It's been a great honor of mine to teach them each day.
Even though my students have diverse backgrounds, one thing they all share is a love of learning.
Over the last few years, my school and my students have worked hard to make the classroom a special place to grow personally and academically. Each day they surprise me with their wit, their wisdom, and their willingness to go out on a limb and share about themselves to me and to each other.
My Project
My school has been 100% virtual since the beginning of the school year. In talking to my students (via Zoom), they have consistently expressed that they are super bummed out that we are unable to be together in person. They miss school! I'd like to cheer them up and send them some encouragement by creating some handmade cards and sending them out occasionally to let them know that I am thinking about them and wish we were able to be together too! It's always nice to get "fun" mail, and hopefully it will help make my seniors' year a little more bright. The circuit will allow a creative way for my students to receive some handmade projects that can be sent right to them when they’re having a tough time, when they’ve done something awesome, or other “notable” occasions! If my classroom moves back into our school building at all this year, it will be nice to have the students figure out how to create cards for each other too.
