Hola! I am a middle level Spanish teacher at an inner city school in upstate NY.
Every year I get to work with an amazing group of boys and girls who can be described as creative, energetic, humorous, compassionate and resilient.
I feel blessed to have the opportunity to work with these incredible children and I am hoping to provide them a 'safe place to land' when they are feeling overwhelmed.

My Project
Many of the middle school students I work with each day experience trauma in their daily lives and have a difficult time dealing with their stress and anxiety. The mismanaged stress leads to behaviors which cause students to be removed from class and miss instructional time.
I am hoping to create a 'Time Away' space within my classroom that students can use for 2-3 minutes when they are feeling overwhelmed.
I have asked for specialty seating (bean bag style) and many different hand held manipulatives for students to use while they are calming down and getting ready to rejoin our classroom community.
