Students at my school are creative and open to the world around them. Having been through challenges, my students are often understanding and empathetic. They are accepting of each other and inspiring to teach.
Students at my school are hard-working not only at school, but often work to support themselves after school hours.
Some have family or financial responsibilities in addition to their education. All students are working towards high school graduation. As their teacher, I want to prepare my students to be ready for training, school, and life after high school.
My Project
My students are learning to love books. Many have never read a book cover-to-cover before. As their reading ability improves, students have opportunities to create book projects about the books they are reading and present those projects to the class. An iPad as well as Magnetic Poetry Kits will give students opportunities to use their creativity and create projects they will present to others. Students can create movies, podcasts, digital art, trailers, poetry, and many other projects with these materials.
Recently, a student who had never read a book before told me about the book he was reading, "You're not going to believe this, but I really like this book." He has since finished the book and will create a book project about his book and share it with the class.
He and the rest of my students will benefit from the materials I am asking for through Donors Choose.
