My students need and the students of my school need a X-Carve so that they can create beautiful work on autocad like programs and translate their work to products made of plastic and wood.
Students from my school come from a diverse range of socioeconomic status, race, and experiences in the San Diego area. We are at a project based learning Title 1 charter.
The children love to learn in a variety of ways; exploring, collaborating, and problem solving together.
We love to build, explore, and try new things!
Students are dedicated to learning deeply and finding ways to share their knowledge in a public way. We are in need of engineering and building machines and materials to present our work in a beautiful and purposeful way.
My Project
We believe in our elementary school students. Creating high quality work is difficult. Students use multiple drafts and peer critique to make the best quality products they can create. We want to provide students access to using real world tools.
X-Carve and the Inventables' Easel software is an amazing way to provide elementary students access to professional level creation of wooden, metal, and plastic products.
It is safe and does not require the use of laser cutters, which are very expensive and elementary students cannot access this technology because it is unsafe and challenging to use photoshop. The vacuum and attachment will help keep our classroom clean and safe for elementary students.
Now I know that this is a lot of money and a big ask. I believe that this machine will not only enhance 4th graders ability to create beautiful work but will start enhancing all students at High Tech Elementary Explorer's ability to imagine and create. Let's start a new era in elementary school where students can design, create, and actually use the equipment to create beautiful work.
