Creating Beautiful Classroom & Project Essentials Using Cricut
Help me give my students opportunities to be creative and engaged in their learning while creating beautiful, lasting projects designed using a Cricut Explore Air 2 donated for student use.
I am fortunate to teach in a caring and supportive community. Most of the families have lived in the area for generations. The community supports its schools despite the fact that its residents are low socio-economic population. Due to decreasing enrollment at the school, the school is in financial distress.
Our school parents, like all parents, want what's best for the education of their children.
They give as much as they can to fund supplies and consumables that go to the classrooms. However, the financial problems of the school have negatively impacted every classroom. Our student-teacher ratio is extremely high and students are often crammed into classrooms that are too small to allow them much room to comfortably work.
I actively look for ways to facilitate teaching and learning, allowing my students to move and collaborate while learning in a rich and welcoming environment. I have flexible seating options and desks that can be easily arranged for a variety of tasks. I want the students in my class to be excited to enter the room each and every day. Each and every one of my students is priceless to me and so is their education.
My Project
Students and teachers will utilize cardstock, stencils, and vinyl along with technology in very creative, imaginative, and professional-looking ways to complete hand-crafted projects of which they can be proud and will last beyond one school year. Designing visually pleasing projects will give the creators confidence and help increase their engagement to the tasks. These hands-on opportunities combine technology from a Cricut Explore Air 2 and a Chromebook or desktop with sturdy materials and could inspire students to pursue future fields of study, careers, and lifelong hobbies.
Students long for opportunities to create their own personalized learning experiences and connect those experiences to their current or future goals.
Many students disengage or lack interest in classes if they do not see the relevance of the content in the real world. Students and teachers will create bulletin boards, posters, decals, clothing items, and other project pieces in ways that visually support and enhance information.
The designers will have choices in how they use the technology and what they create with it. Designers will be empowered and will be creative and excited to make products and projects.
