Help me give my students tools and resources to continue to create art while their peers are still finishing their work. This individual time to create is essential but works better when there is some structure.
Our school is a community school located right in the heart of St. Paul Park. The central location makes it a hub for our school activities such as family nights, social gatherings and community dinners. Our students come from diverse economic and racial backgrounds. This diversity is what makes our school special. Despite life circumstances that might make it hard to find success in a traditional way, these students are kind and generous.
The students here are bright and enthusiastic learners.
They work incredibly hard. They make me want to be a better person.
It has been such a joy to teach them. They are craving every single anything that we do in class. They are excited to come to class. They are always eager to see what's next.
My Project
Students have very little opportunity to create visual art on their own in school and out. That is why it is essential that we use all of the time that they are in art class to create. We don't want to spend time waiting around for others to finish.
Having these resources available to students will ignite their creativity during their individual creating time.
These are resources that most of our students would not have access to otherwise. By providing these resources students will be able to use their "down" time more effectively to continue being creative through drawing and manipulating materials.
