I have a class of 24 cute kiddos. They enjoy learning, especially when that learning is creative, hands-on, and fun. They particularly enjoy STEAM activities--learning and creating that is related to math, science, engineering, art, and technology. We live in an area where the winter weather frequently forces us to stay indoors at recess. During this free time, I would like to provide my students with a variety of quality materials that they can use to constructively explore their thinking and creativity.
In our school, there are many winter days when the weather forces students to stay indoors at recess. Rather than spend this time passively watching a movie or sitting around chatting, I'd like to give students an opportunity to use this time in a creative, fun, and educational way.
Kids enjoy creating and building, and they really enjoy building creations with their friends.
The ability to work cooperatively and to think imaginatively are skills that students need in today's classrooms as well as in their future occupations. Unfortunately, our classroom has little in the way of materials that students can use creatively. A variety of Magna Qubix cubes and Lego bricks with building mats will give students in my class a broad choice of bright, colorful materials that they can use to collaboratively explore their ideas.
