Creating an Outdoor Peace Place

Help me give my students the materials they need to build an outdoor "peace place" at our Montessori school.

My Project

My students have noticed that disagreements happen outside at recess. Inside we have a corner of the room for children to go to calm down or to calmly talk about conflicts.

Peace education and child-driven learning are both very important in the Montessori environment.

This project that has been created by my students incorporates both of these.

They have come up with a plan to create an outdoor "peace place" that can be used by all of the students at our Montessori school. Their plan includes creating a life-sized outdoor Zen Garden. They would like to put gravel, polished rocks, and hand painted rocks into the garden and have small rakes and shovels so this can be a place children can go to calm themselves. Their plan also includes putting in a peace pole and bench near the garden where students can go to resolve conflicts.

Now, we are in need of your support to help their vision become a reality.
