Creating an Organized Classroom That Encourages Engaging Play
Help me give my students an organized classroom that allows me to create, manage, access, and provide quality and engaging learning and play materials.
Organization in a classroom is a crucial component of providing an engaging, accessible, and respectful classroom environment. Having children learn where items go and providing adequate storage allows them to take accountability and have a stake in the classroom, and they begin to take pride in how their classroom looks. When they take pride in how their classroom looks, they begin to take pride in other areas of their lives: their home, their family's homes, etc.
The organization allows my students, especially those with physical needs, to have easier access to the materials they enjoy learning with the most.
Shoe boxes that open in the front will allow them to keep their books safe, preventing tears and rips. Rolling carts will be used in our art center to provide easy access for our children who have physical needs and will also manage supplies that all children will use for play dough (fine motor, creative thinking, abstract thinking), paint supplies (a variety of rollers, paint brushes, sponges, stamps), clipboards (writing and drawing in different areas of the room where they can explore centers), additional art supplies that we rotate out based on child interest. The filing cabinet will be used to organize student files and small group materials to engage children in learning while guided by the teacher.
These items are needed in our classroom as our current storage solutions are not sturdy nor currently functional for their use. This will allow for better functionality for my physically disabled children and encourage more engagement with the materials they enjoy using.
