This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My fifth-grade students are always motivated to learn, love doing projects, and excited to use technology. They come from a bilingual household and attend a Detroit Public School in an impoverished area. Our school is one hundred years old with minimal upgrades. We rank seventy-first in the state as far as standardized test scores and took second place in a LEGO Robotics competition. Even though our building is old, our staff is experienced in providing quality education in a safe and caring environment.

My Project

Students will use the Samsung Galaxy Tablet to research different ways to make our school environmentally efficient. They will use the Samsung Tablet to research how to create a rain barrel, how to power down a school, how to check for water leaks in the school and how to plant a community garden. Students will work in groups using the tablet to research their ideas and document them in their journals.

Once students have researched the ideas on the tablet we will come up with a plan on how to implement them into the school.

Students will also the tablet to find ways to recycle paper products and see how they decompose in the ground.
