Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students are hard working, driven individuals who are looking to exceed all expectations and set the bar high for their families and their communities. Many of our students come from low-income backgrounds and have not had the opportunity to attend a high performing school yet in their lives.
Our students need a space where they feel supported, safe, and comfortable.
I hope to provide such a space for them in my classroom so that they can thrive as individuals and learners.
My Project
As a 6th grade ELA teacher, I want to make my class as engaging as possible and I want to make the space in which the students will learn as welcoming and supportive as possible. My students deserve a great education and I would like to provide them with more hands-on learning opportunities this year. It would be wonderful to use different games as a method of reinforcing their ELA skills, such as making inferences and practicing vocabulary words. I would like to associate joy with learning as much as possible! Learning is fun!
It is important that all students know that they are welcomed and supported in my classroom.
I want students to feel safe, heard, and respected. By adding these posters and inclusive messages to the wall space in my room, I hope that students will feel inspired to be here every day.
