Creating a Thinking Classroom!

Help me give my students access to materials (whiteboards and markers) that will create a more engaged classroom!

My Project

In order to create a classroom environment that allows for more thinking and engagement, access to more whiteboards is needed. Why whiteboards you might ask? A whiteboard is a non-permanent surface that allows students to not feel the risk of trying something that may or may not work. They can quickly erase mistakes.

When students work standing around the room, they do not feel anonymous and are improving their skills in communication, perseverance, and patience.

Engagement is increased because the teacher can see everything going on around the room and no student feels left behind. The students build relationships with each other, the teacher, and their own thinking minds. This allows students to go beyond the traditional note-taking and independent practice problems of a typical math class and it allows the teacher to see what students are thinking in the moment.

Currently, we are using whiteboards that are far too small for their work and even using covers of storage bins! The students get excited about learning in this way and having more surfaces to work on will greatly improve the learning going on in the classroom!
