I teach in a Title One school in Dallas, Texas. Every year, I get twenty-two, smiling faces, many who are Burmese refugees from the country of Burma. We have over sixty percent free or reduced price lunch at my school. The amazing thing about my students that even though many of them come from very poor households, they are excited to learn everyday. I have never seen a group of students love learning the way our students do. I want to provide as many opportunities I can for them in our classroom.
My Project
These items will be used for different purposes. Some will be educational resources for me to create exciting, engaging lessons. The black light, jenga games, pie in the face games and lock boxes will all be tools to create engaging lessons! Glow games, breakout edu and game connections to hard standards are all some of the ways these materials will be utilized. As teachers, we are competing against technology. We have to realize that! So when students come to school excited and engaged to see what is planned next, this creates excited learners.
The other half of the resources are for morning tubs, stem bins and other times during the day where students get to create and be problem solvers together!
The marble drop and building materials will give students the ability to create more and problem-solve together. I have seen a much more loving, cooperative class this year because they have time to work together to build together and create new things. They communicate so well and adding some of these new items in their tubs will be exciting for them!
