Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As we are well on our way through this school year, I am continuing to serve as a first grade teacher in Oceanside, CA! I believe in making the classroom a warm and inviting place where each and everyone of them can learn and grow. I also believe that each and every one of my students deserve the best teachers, materials, and learning opportunities there is to offer.
This year, I will be working with 21 kiddos that come from low income and primarily Spanish speaking homes.
Despite whatever challenges they may face at home, this school and my classroom will be a place that welcomes, teaches, and supports them in the best ways possible.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my students' learning by giving them the space and materials to listen to great books being read to them. The books are some classic stories my students will really enjoy and some high quality non fiction texts that will allow them to learn more and more! Listening to books is also a great way for kids to learn vocabulary and have access to many different kinds of texts.
The listening center will be a place they come to relax and enhance their love of books!
The cozy seating will allow them to curl up and the other materials will make it possible for multiple students to use the center at once.
