My Project

Breathe for Change is a movement designed to enhance the health and well-being of students, educators, and communities. This 200 hour course is designed specifically for educators to learn strategies for using trauma-informed instruction to enhance social-emotional learning utilizing the eight limbs of Yoga. Upon successful completion of this course, I will be a 200- hour certified Yoga teacher and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Facilitator.

The knowledge gained in this training will allow me to utilize scientifically based practices to enhance the emotional well-being of students throughout my school district.

I also plan to continue my mission by offering free family wellness and yoga classes in my community. I live and teach in a rural community at the edge of Appalachia. This is an area where many children and their families are faced with daily challenges such as poverty, drug use, hunger, and even homelessness. Providing trauma-based SEL instruction both in school and in the community will benefit everyone!
