Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are very unique and special. They come from many ethnic backgrounds and although they cannot all speak the same language, they do share the love of learning. Specially social emotional lessons. We discover that even though we may be different in some ways, we are similar in many ways. I am supporting them academically, college/career, and social emotionally. They are in a very special transition from leaving elementary and thinking about high school and beyond. I love my job!
My Project
The mindfulness items will help me create a mindfulness corner in the counselor's office in which students can come in for morning checkins or counselor referrals through out the day. They will have the opportunity to practice mindfulness. The water fountain will allow them to practice mindfulness by not just listening to the water, but touching it. Students and teachers will be able to practice stress management, relaxation techniques and other mindful activities. Other resources will be used in classrooms during SEL instructions. Teachers will be able to pick up mindfulness resources that they can utilize with their students as well.
